1-- Either as you are adding somebody, or by seeing their personal account, click the Friends button that has the checkmark on it.

2-- Under Show in News Feed, click on Settings

3-- Under the section that states How many updates? Modification it from Most Updates to All Updates if that is exactly what you want.

Facebook's default is to establish it to Show in News feed, and also Many updates. There might be some individuals you want to lower exposure with, as well as others you would love to increase presence with. You could make all those changes in this same area. For example if you accepted somebody as a close friend yet do not really intend to see their articles, yet do not wish to unfriend them either, UNcheck the Show in News feed option.
